All regular and special meetings of the Board of Education are open tothe public under the Sunshine Law of Ohio 121.22. By law, the Board may also vote in an open session to hold an executive session, which is closed to the public. When the Board votes to hold an executive session, it must state the purpose of that session.
Topics eligible for executive session are: review of personnel matters such as dismissal, promotion, demotion or compensation; the purchase or sale of property; negotiations; and conferences with legal counsel regarding pending court actions. Any actions taken by the Board that result from these sessions must be taken at a public meeting.
